Art Workshop

Art Class penguin

Our group meets in the hall upstairs each Tuesday morning from 10 am to 12 noon

We enjoy each other’s company; we draw and paint.  During the Autumn and Winter members filled the notice boards in the upstairs hall with portraits, landscapes, and studies of shells and flowers.  One week we had a member of the church sit for us - he was an excellent life model.  We also made self portraits.

We have visited the Bishop’s Palace Gardens to draw.

It is good to discover the talents and strengths each person has and also their particular preferences in painting and drawing.  We have a range of art materials on hand and encourage each other to experiment with them.

We have looked at the almost magical landscapes of Samuel Palmer (1805 - 1881) who worked locally and knew William Blake.
I hope our group continues to show such enthusiasm—it’s great fun.
